A price drops 20%, then rises 20%. Where does it end up?
4% lower. $100 minus 20% is $80. $80 plus 20% is $96. The second 20% is a percentage of a smaller number.
How a session works
Five minutes, then back to your day.
Practice
A few questions picked for you. Some are new. Some come back for review, spaced out so they have time to stick.
See the reasoning
After each answer you get the reasoning, including why the tempting wrong answer is tempting.
Take one thing with you
Each session ends with something small to try away from the screen.
What you practice
Six kinds of thinking, practiced together.
Critical Reasoning
Build and take apart arguments: premises, conclusions, and the step that doesn't follow.
For example: find the assumption a conclusion quietly needs.
Evidence & Sources
Judge where information comes from and whether it holds up.
For example: check a website by reading what others say about it.
Metacognition & Judgment
Know what you know, when to change your mind, and when to stop and check.
For example: decide how much one new fact should move you.
Creative Thinking
Generate ideas, connect distant ones, and break a pattern you didn't know you were following.
For example: describe an object by its parts, not its purpose.
Mathematical Reasoning
Number sense for everyday claims: percentages, risk, rates and charts.
For example: shrink a headline's big number to one you can picture.
Counter-Manipulation
Recognize persuasion tactics before they work: false urgency, false choices, dark patterns and scams.
For example: name the tactic in a text that wants you to hurry.
Focus isn't a separate module. It's practiced in every one.
By design
What the app won't do.
Low stimulation is a design rule here, not a style. The app is built to be put down.
- No streaks to protect Miss a day. Nothing breaks.
- No confetti The reward is getting better at the work.
- No red dots Nothing nags you back.
- No autoplay A session ends when it ends.
- No feed There is nothing to scroll.
Evidence
AI, social media and a constant flood of information arrived faster than anyone could study them. We're all living through the experiment.
What we're living through
Many of us now get answers from AI, news from feeds, and more information in a day than we could ever check. It's a real-world experiment that nobody designed and everyone is part of. How it will change the way people think isn't known yet. The studies that could tell us are still being run.
What the work is built on
Every exercise draws on peer-reviewed research in reasoning, evidence, judgment, numbers and persuasion. We read each study in the original paper, not a press release or a summary. When our notes and the paper disagree, the paper wins.
What we don't claim
We don't know whether practice like this changes how the experiment turns out for you, and we won't pretend to. We don't claim ABR Labs raises IQ, improves your performance at work or school, or protects against cognitive decline. Claims like those need clinical trials we haven't run. What we offer is daily practice at checking where a claim comes from and working everyday problems through yourself.

Questions
Before you start.
Is this a brain game?
No. Games promise a higher score on everything. It's practice with specific kinds of thinking: reasoning, evidence, judgment, numbers, creativity, and spotting manipulation.
How much time does it take?
About 5 minutes a day in the app, plus one thing to try away from it. There is no daily goal to hit and nothing to lose by missing a day.
Who is it for?
Adults 18 and over who want to keep their thinking in practice, whether AI is doing more of their work or they want a daily habit that isn't a feed.
Can I use it on the web?
Yes. ABR Labs runs on iPhone, on Android and in the web app. One account works in all three, with the same progress and the same subscription.
What happens to my answers?
Your answers are used to schedule your practice and show your progress. Anything beyond that, such as research use, is a separate choice you can turn on or off. The privacy policy has the details.
How do I cancel or delete my account?
Cancel where you subscribed: in your Apple account settings, in your Google Play subscriptions, or on your account page if you subscribed on this website. Cancelling keeps your account and progress, so you can come back later. To delete the account itself, go to Settings, then Account, then Delete account, in the app or the web app.
